alternative enegry

let me first say that i am not much of a travolta fan and as long as we understand this i may proceed...

so, i saw the movie phenomenon years ago and it started me thinking about solar energy and getting off of the grid (among other things such as why can't my brain get smarter with a strike of lightning?). anyway, the talk has been out there for a long time, but never has there been this much enthusiasm for conserving energy (at least in my lifetime). i think that it is about time that americans started thinking about kicking the oil habit. i mean after all most of it comes from overseas.

so, what about a natural gas civic.

and if you are worried about finding a natural gas station here is a gov't website that can help you plan the next road trip:

natural gas stations

what do you think?

I've come across an even greater solution, Roger. My good friend and his wife bought a 1981 Mercedes Diesel station wagon and did a WVO (Waste Vegetable Oil) conversion to it.

They pick up used vegetable oil from the local Chinese buffet, filter it in their garage, and put it in their tank. They proudly talk about not spending a dime to fuel a vehicle for over 18 months now!

I've been trying to decide if I've got the courage to go around to restaurants to gather the stuff so I can drive one myself.

I've found another solution....I'm in college until 2011 (meaning that I don't drive a mile a week) at the earliest so why not wait until the Chevy volt comes out in 2011. By then my commute, if I have one, should be less than 40 miles meaning that I won't have to spend any money on gas.

Or for those of us who can't wait...
